Art Debutant
Art Debutant was founded by Natalia Neuhaus in San Francisco, California in 2010 with Rachel Weiner as the initial investor. Rachel is a photographer and graduate of San Francisco Art Insitute who understood first-hand the frustrations of being an artists with minimum places to display her art. Art Debutant is a curated online gallery that focuses on exhibiting 4 mediums: photography, paintings, prints and new genres. The mission of Art Debutant is to support local emerging artists and art students by giving them a space to exhibit and promote their artwork to art collectors from all over the world. We have separate sites for artists from different cities because we want to foster a sense of each place’s unique, local, artistic community.
About the Founders
Natalia Neuhaus – Founder
Natalia, originally from Lima Peru, moved to San Francisco in 2007 to pursue a degree in fine art photography at the San Francisco Art Institute. In Peru, Natalia had a successful career as a photojournalist and Art Director for several newspapers and magazines. A love of art runs deep in her family as her great grandfather was the founder of the Museum of Art in Lima. After completion of her BFA in 2010 she was surprised to find very little space for recent graduates and emerging artists to exhibit their work. This is when the idea for Art Debutant was born. Art Debutant was founded so that artists can create an alternative to the entrenched elitism of the established art world.
Rachel Wiener – Co-Founder
Rachel has had many careers, from Massage Therapist to wine maker/seller, to Buddhist Monk. She went back to school at the San Francisco Art Institute in 2008 to finish a BFA degree she started 1992 at the Evergreen State College. While at SFAI, she recognized that self-marketing was a subject sorely lacking in arts education and certainly not something that comes naturally to the artistically inclined. In 2010 Natalia approached her with the idea for Art Debutant and she immediately recognized the opportunity to help artists by creating a new way for them to reach out.
Dana Loberg – Co-Founder
Dana is a fine artist and marketing and communications entrepreneur from Los Angeles, CA. After graduating from Yale in 2003, she moved to New York City where she worked as a copywriter in advertising and also attended the School of Visual Arts. She has participated in art shows in New York, Chicago and San Francisco. In 2008, she made the move out to San Francisco where she worked in a public relations and branding firm representing start-up technology companies in Silicon Valley. Dana continues to pursue her fine art career in the Mission of San Francisco where she currently resides.
